In my first post, I finally got off my duff and started this blog because I was (let’s just call it) highly irritated that a doctor would write a letter to the newspaper saying that a judge was not fit to hold office because she had diabetes. I called myself an activist. Well then, what’s an activist? I had to define it for myself.
To my way of thinking, an activist is trying to create positive change. They aren’t “sitting on their duff” they are actively (hence activist) seeking a way to fix what they see as a problem…whether it be a health care system or a really negative opinion about an illness (seen the bad press Fibromyalgia has sporadically received? I won’t link to any of them, but it is quite chilling to have someone publicly say that you are ill because you’re a basket case).
So this is my part. For right now, at least. I don’t know that I have the energy to do more, but I will keep chugging along, sharing what I know, showing what I’ve found and giving you the benefit of my opinion. Lucky you. I’m certain there is more to come, but for now…in my own little way I’m trying to change the world.
