There are some things that just make you smile.

And this is one of them.

Luna waiting for lovin'

My oldest daughter just sent me this picture. This is our dog Luna. My daughter and I have two dogs. Teresa adopted Jager (pronounced Yay-grrr…like Jagermeister. She was 21. Make sense now?)  a lab/chow mix, from in front of the local liquor store when she was in the Air Force stationed in the middle of nowhere at Edwards AFB.

When she moved to Florida she couldn’t take Jager with her and asked me to take him for her. So we flew him (I think he was just about a year old) up to Washington and John and I inherited Jager.

This was shortly after we’d gotten engaged and every couple needs a dog right? It’s not like I was having any more babies!

Then, a few years later when the fibromyalgia symptoms got so bad I really needed some help dealing with the kids, the house, the dog, Teresa moved back in with me. And then AJ came along, bringing Luna who was just a brand new puppy at the time.

When Luna first moved in she has a crazy name…something like Pershephony. That wasn’t happening. She had a habit of peeing everytime she got excited so I just called her “Spot”. It fit.

She was eventually renamed Luna, but as a puppy her time in my house was always in peril. She peed, she chewed baseboards, got car sick…and I can’t remember what else, but it looked like AJ was going to get rid of Luna.

But I’d gotten really attached to Luna. Not to say that Jager was unloved. But unlike Jager, who has a tendency to be aloof because of the Chow side, Luna was a total lover. And let’s face it, “Jager Boy!” “Luna GiRRRll!” (sorry…inside joke)

Luna would cuddle up next to me and was always willing to give loves when asked. I was always feeling like cr*p those days and she was always glad to hang out with me. She’s a really happy girl and she always made me smile.  So I put my foot down, paid for the spaying and licensing and said she was mine.

Teresa is still up in Washington and so is Luna. I have Jager so we kind of split custody, I guess. I just know that when I was up visiting kids last month Luna was the happiest to see me. And she still makes me smile.

Lol! Hunter still calls asking for “Egg-grr” and where he is. :) Luna lives the hard life of being the perpetual hoover for the kitchen. But of course I’m no fun because I have a list of foods she can not eat on the fridge. Her sweet tooth is pretty interesting, and she gives the sweetest moon eyes when i have a sweet treat to share such as marshmallow bits. She just tried to join me in my little nest on the couch,I think she knows I’m talking about her!
