I’ve got a bazillion reasons not to post lately. My computer is slower than molasses and my brain is running at the same speed. And I can’t seem to drag the computer into the bathroom. But whatever. I’ve got a couple things on my mind so thought I’d share. Be warned…this is a random post. (Hence the title…hello?)
Low-Dose Naltrexone:
Not happening until the weather gets better. My fibro is super weather sensitive, which is why we moved to San Diego. But because of El Nino (or so I’m told) the weather here is colder than normal so I’m hurting and back to spending more time in bed than out. And of course I rely on the narcotics to keep the pain at bay and evade the fatigue when necessary.
Even though the doctor that gave me the prescription for Low-Dose Naltrexone said that his patients have had success with it while taking narcotics, it’s making me miserable. I do experience withdrawal symptoms when I take the LDN…so it’s just going to have to wait until warmer weather and I am more able to pull back off the narcotics.
Health Care Reform and the stupid lies people believe:
Honestly people believe what they want to believe. It’s annoying for those of us who want to believe what we want to believe, which is different than what they believe. Got it? But seriously, what do you really know about what is going on in the world around us?
Just for giggles, take this test (it’s only 12 questions) http://pewresearch.org/politicalquiz/quiz/index.php and then check out how many people who took the time to take the test and failed it…miserably. That is downright scary. What grounds do you have to gripe about how the politicians are screwing us over (well they are, but that’s beside the point) if you aren’t…what’s the word I’m looking for…aware? That works.
For the record, I got 11 out of the 12 correct (there goes my “cognitive difficulties” excuse). My excitement for the day came in beating my husband’s score; he got 10 right. Sorry, gotta crow about scoring higher than him on something, finally (naw, I’m not competitive).
This is the guy (We met while in training for work, so I’ve seen this in action) that can read the materials being tested on ONCE. That’s it, once. Does not have to participate in class discussions, take pre-quizzes…or even study. Nope, does not have to study…and he’ll ace the test every time. Ah…but here’s the catch, he has to read the stuff and obviously he’s been paying way too much attention to the Olympics lately
Food:
I might have mentioned this before, but my digestive system is “intolerant” of gluten, soy, dairy, eggs and now apparently sugar. Excuse me but what the heck am I supposed to eat? Chicken and vegetables for the rest of my life?
Sorry, I’m whining. It could be worse. I’ve just really had a rough time of it food-wise lately. So I’m back on Metagenics Ultrainflamx (at $70 for 14 servings. OUCH!) until my system settles down. Okay, so I went out drinking (and eating stuff I shouldn’t) with my sister and close friend last week.

Out with the girls!
So sue me. Naw…just make me miserable and wearing out a path between the bed and the bathroom. Sorry, is that too much info? Oh well. But damn, I had a really good time so it’s worth it. At least that’s what I’m telling myself…
I just have to behave myself for a while and let my body heal itself. If I had to diagnose myself my guess would be that my first chiropractor was right that I have “leaky gut syndrome“. It’s a controversial diagnosis (of course, would I be any other way?) but if I give it some time (and $70 for 14 servings, insert eye roll here) and quit eating things that I know are going to screw up my system I’ll feel better. Eventually. I hope.
Wish I could say the same for my computer!
Marijuana:
Here’s a shocker: I made an appointment for a referral so I can use medical marijuana. This will be the third time I’ve tried to do this. The first two times I bailed. I’m a total coward…maybe it’s the fact I’m married to a federal employee?
But I feel like I should give this a shot. I take Xanax to sleep at night and Narcotics to stay upright during the day. That combination is lethal (Heath Ledger, remember?) if I screw it up. So after reading lots and talking lots (husband has his reservations…don’t blame him one bit) I’m going to try marijuana as a sleep medicine.
However there’s a bit of a snag, as always. I refuse to smoke it because my mom died of COPD…and honestly the smell of it makes me gag. The vaporizer makes me hack up a lung. I know, have you ever heard of that? That’s not supposed to happen. The whole purpose of the vaporizer is for that NOT to happen. I’m always the exception to the rule. So here’s my problem…I’ve got to figure out another “method of delivery”.
If you’ve got a gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, egg-free, sugar-free (ugh!) recipe for brownies, would you kindly share?
Thanks!
